Loughborough'sOlympic Silver Medallist david Davies powered his way to victory in the Great North Swim held in Lake Windermere.

Over 2000 competitors tool to the picturesque waters for the 1 mile swim but it was Davies who was victorious in the elite men's category. Winning by just over 2 seconds davies turned the table for Beijing by beating the Olympic Open Water Cahmpion Maarteen van der Weidjen(Holland)

Several past & present loughborough swimmers supported the event with other highest place finisher being Olympic 400m specialist David Carry.
