The second night of finals at the European SC was another fantastic night for Loughborough swimmers. James Gibson(left) led the charge for medals in the 100m breaststroke finishing in third place in a new British Record time of 57.91. The previous British & Loughborough club record time of 58.03 was set by James at the European SC in 2003. Elizabeth Simmonds also went hunting a medal in the women's 100m back eventually finishing in fifth place; improving the British Record time she had set in the heats to 57.51. After achieving a new lifetime best in the 400 IM heats this morning, Joe roebuck went onto eclipse this in the final finishing in a credible 5th place in a time of 4:07.76. Also in semi final action Matthew Bowe was just off his time of 24.59 set in the heats this morning finishing in 24.74. Ben Hockin and Ross Davenport competed in the 100m free semi finals. They too were just off their best times set this morning finishing in 48.22 & 48.25 respectively. They did get too watch Amaury Leaeaux off France set a new World Record in a time of 45.12. This has been another great day for Loughborough Swimmers and let's hope for further success in the last two days of competition. All of the results are from Omega Timing
