The third night of finals at the European SC bought even more success and National Records for Loughborough swimmers. Elizabeth Simmonds started the night of with the semi finals of the 50m back. She surpassed her British Record time from the heat to set a swift 27.17 to take her through to the final later in the session. In the final she finished in a very impressive fifth place and breaking the twenty seven second barrier for the first time; posting a new British Record time of 26.88. James Gibson followed up his morning swim with a quicker time of 27.13 in the men's 50m breaststroke. Unfortunately his time did not qualify him through for the final. After a new club record in the morning Joe Roebuck produced another very impressive swim in the 200m fly. He was just half a second of his lifetime best posting 1:54.58 to finish 7th in the final. |
