Loughborough swimmers competed successfully in various European Meets. Amy Smith (below) Francesca Halsall, Daniel Fogg and Ross Davenport all headed to France to represent various teams in the French Interclub's. Fran took the 100m butterfly(59.06) and placed 2nd in the 200m freestyle(1:59.89);she also lead off the medley relay with a 1:00.25. All of these swims place her in the Loughborough All Time Top 5 Rankings. Amy Smith, swimming in the same competition, demonstrated her return to form with lifetime best performances in the 100m freestyle(54.46) & 200m freestyle (2:00.07) to place 2nd & 3rd respectively. Daniel Fogg(below) improved on his performances from European Short Course to place 2nd in the 400m free; his time of 3:47.29 narrowly missing the University record. Dan went on to place 3rd in the 1500m freestyle with 15:01.66. Ross Davenport raced to victory in the 200m freestyle(1:45.85) while Marseilles based James Gibson won the 100m breast in 59.57. Ben & Charlie Hockin competed in the Spanish National Short Course Championships and produced some fine swims. Ben sprinted to victory in the 100m freestyle with a time of 48.24 and swam to 6th place in the 100m backstroke; his time of 53.69 seeing him reserve a slot in the Loughborough All Time Top 5. Charlie swam to lifetime bests in the 50m back(25.85), 100m back(56.95) and 100m free (50.67) Great to spread the Loughborough spirit around Europe. |
