| Swimmers Excel at Sheffield Premier Meet |

Loughborough swimmers produced some outstanding performances at the Sheffield Premier Meet; setting a host of lifetime bests and National Qualifying Times. Olympian, Ben Hockin, used the meet to test his taper and looked impressive as he powered to victory in the 100m freestyle with a time of 49.42. He went on to win the 200m freestyle in 1:51.71. Teammate, Andy Bushell, placed second in the 100m freestyle with a lifetime best of 51.99 and sprinted his way to gold in the 50m butterfly. Chris Bayliss swam a well paced race to take the 200m individual medley title and finally broke the 30 second barrier for the 50m breaststroke; his time of 29.89 seeing him clinch bronze. Catherine Pickthall utilised her power and speed to take the 50m butterfly in a lifetime best of 28.66 while Becky Jenkins was delighted with her National Qualifying time of 31.40 to place 2nd in the 50m backstroke. |
