En route to a warm weather training camp in Cyprus, Loughborough swimmers dipped into the Bath Preparation Meet to produce a few golden swims. Olympic finalist, Francesca Halsall, demonstrated her versatility by not only winning her specialist event, the 50m freestyle, but also claimed first spot in the 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley events. Amy Smith took silver in the 50m freestyle to make it Loughborough one-two and went on to win the 100m freestyle with a fine display of pacing. Double Olympic medallist, David Davies, swam head to head with teamate Daniel Fogg in the 1500m freestyle throughout the 30 lap race; Davies edging ahead over the closing stages to take gold with Fogg claiming silver. Liam Tancock wasn't phased by his suit splitting prior to the start of the 50m freestyle; his efficient start and awesome power seeing taking him to victory. Ross Davenport clnched the sprint events for Loughborough with a winning swim in the 100m freestyle whilst Joe Roebuck controlled the race to secure gold in the 400m individual medley. |
