The Coaches Workshop organised by Loughborough Univesity Swimming was hailed as a great by the 50+ delegates in attendance. Club Coaches from around Britain were treated to highly informative and inspirational presentations from leading practitioners in the field. Pat Dunleavy (Lead Physiotherapist for British Swimming) opened the day with practical tips on the prevention of injuries whilst Olympic Medallist David Davies and his Coach, Kevin Renshaw, outlined the changes they have made to his programme to develop power & speed. A superb practical session in the pool with Coach Ben Titley(featured below) and Liam Tancock was followed by a cutting edge presentation from Dr. Neil Martin on asthma/respiratory research and the implications for swimmers. Dr. Di Bass rounded off the day with an outstanding presentation on the Coach/Swimmer/Parent dynamic. Ian Armiger (Director of Swimmer) coordinated the day and summed it up as " This was a great day for all concerned. The speakers & presentations were of the highest calibre and the delegates received an abundance of information and ideas which could easily be incorporated into their home clubs." Look out for future Clinics/Workshops....this one was oversubscribed so don't miss out!
