Joanne Jackson continued her record beaking spree at the Barcelona Mare Nostrum with a new Meet & Championship Record of 4:05.90 in the 400m freestyle. Having won the 200m & 800m freestyles the previous day ( both in Meet Records), Jackson obliterated the field to lift her 3rd title and complete a hat trick of record breaking swims. Cailtin McClatchey and Sophie Casson also represented Loughborough University in the final, finishing 6th & 8th respectively.Olympian and British Record Holder, Lizzie Simonds, raced to silver in the 200m backstroke with an impressive 2:10.94 while teammate Francesca Halsall sprinted to a new University record of 26.40 to clinch 4th spot in the 50m butterfly. Daniel Fogg swam a well paced race to take silver in the 1500m freestyle (15:29.97) while Joe Roebuck & Ross Davenport dug deep to take bronze medals in the 400m individual medley (4:24.57) and 200m freestyle (1:49.04) respectively. Liam Tancock made his second appearance on the podium after a bronze medal winning swim in the 100m backstroke (55.61). Matt Bowe looks set to swim fast at the forthcoming Scottish Nationals after setting a time of 53.73 for a 5th place finish in the final of the 100m butterfly. Some fine swimming in sunny Spain...Si!
