The World Swimming Championships started this morning with a bang! The world's leading swimmers are having to produce their best form to progress from the heats. Loughborough's James Gibson, now based in Marseille, has just swam 59.69 in the 100m breaststroke to smash Chris Cook's British Record set last year at the Olympic trials. James's time puts him through to tonight's semi final in 11th place. David Davies and Jo Jackson also started their competition of this morning with the heats of the 400m free. Both swimmers progressed through to tonight's finals in 3:45.43 and 6th place, with David just missing his own British record by less than 2 tenths; with Jo swimming a controlled race to cruise through into the final in third place in a time of 4:03.48.
