This morning has been another fast morning for Loughborough swimmers. Liam Tancock(pictured) in the heats of the 100m back has lowered his own British record. The previous record stood at 53.20, Liam lowered this to 53.08. The time places him third into tonight's semi finals. Lizzie Simmonds started off the fine performances in the 100m back with a new University record time of 1:00.04 to place her 8th into tonight's semi finals. Melanie Nocher also swam the event in a time of 1:02.76. Mel's time was within 1 tenth of her lifetime best. They were both slightly over shadowed by GB teammate, Gemma Spofforth(Florida) who uses Loughborough as her base prior to all major championships. Gemma just missed the world record by 1 hundredth of a second finishing in a time of 58.78. Ross Davenport was the other Loughborough swimmer in action in the 200m free. A strong heat swim of 1:47.21 allows him to progress through to tonight's final in 16th place.
