This evening at the World Championships in Rome, Jo Jackson and Caitlin McClatchey formed the women's 4 x 200m free relay with Jazmin Carlin and Rebecca Addlington. In a very exciting relay the Chinese relay took out the field from the start with Jo and Caitlin keeping the British team in the mix. By the third leg the British team were vying for second place with the American team. It fell to Rebecca Addlington to keep the team in the hunt for a medal. Rebecca could not overhaul the American team and finished behind the Chinese and Americans in a new British and European record time of 7:45.51. Earlier in the session Fran Halsall in the semi final of the 100m free swam to fourth place overall in a new British record time of 53.05. She will go into tomorrow nights final in a confident mood looking to win a medal. Another great night for Loughborough swimming with more to come!!! |
