Francesca Hallsall and Liam Tancock safely progressed to tonight's semi finals at the World Championships in Rome. Francesca, fresh from her outstanding silver medal winning swim in the 100m freestyle, powered her way to a new British Record of 24.47 in the 50m freestyle to secure 6th place for the semis final. After a short break Fran anchored the women's medley relay (Gemma Spofforth, Lowri Tynan, Ellen Gandy, Fran Halsall) to qualify 5th for the final; tactical errors of resting swimmers saw USA and Sweden miss out on a final placing. Liam Tancock utlised his exceptional starting technique to win his heat of the 50m backstroke; his time of 24.55 putting him in 4th place for the semi final Loughborough swimmers have already made a tremendous impact at the Championships, setting a host of lifetime best, British Records and securing a host of final/semi final placings as well as taking 3 medals (2 silver and 1 bronze) Keep cheering on your team....
