It wasn't only Liam Tancock that impressed this evening at the World Championships in Rome. Joanne Jackson swam an excellently paced race to claim a silver medal in the women's 800m free. To read more post race comments click here In other events this evening, Lizzie Simmonds could not repeat her semi final performance where she set a new British record. She struggled to stay with the pace set by Kirsty Coventry in the lane next to her eventually finishing in 5th place. GB teammate Gemma Spoffort continued her excellent championships by setting a new British record time 2.06.66 and finishing in 4th place. Fran Halsall set another British record in the semi final of the 50m free. She progressed through to tomorrow's final in a time of 24.42. Another fantastic night in the pool and hopefully more medals and records tomorrow. |
