This evening in Rome, Liam Tancock, broke his own World record and became World Champion in the 50m backstroke. As the race approached everyone willed Liam to win after regaining his World record yesterday in the semi finals; From the start Liam stole the lead in the first 15m of the race and continued to be pressured by the rest of the field throughout. He just held on in the last five metres as all of the field dived for the wall with Tancock coming out on top.
