On the final night of swimming at the Youth and Senior National Championships in Ponds Forge, Sheffield, Sophie Casson secured her third title of the week in the women's open 400m free. After securing the 800m & 1500m titles earlier in the week, Sophie was determined to add the 400m free title as well. She led from the start building a lead that was never breached, eventually finishing in a new personal best time of 4:13.51.
Kate Weaver secured a place in the women's 50m free open final. This was Kate's first ever National final of her career and reached the final by setting a new personal best time of 26.68. In a very strong final line up, Kate went to set another best time of 26.48 to finish in a credible 8th place.
Chris Watkinson was the final Loughborough swimmer to compete at the championships. He went into the final of the men's 50m breast with the possibility of finishing in a medal position as the field were only separated by less than 0.5 of a second. He eventually finished in 9th place in a time of 29.31.
