Loughborough graduate, Katie Henderson, now swimming for (Reading) continued to have the meet of her life, breaking the World record for the Women’s 25-29yrs 200m Breaststroke. Her 2:30.29 was nearly a second lower than the previous World mark and six seconds lower than her own current British record.

“I can’t believe it,” she said. “I was trying to get near to my 2:36 so to do 2:30 is the best swim ever! I’m not sure what the secret is, I’ve been doing four sessions a week in the pool, which is less than I used to do, but I’m doing a lot of cycling. I’m even doing a body pump class, not actually to help with my swimming but maybe it has!”

She also managed to equal the British record in her ‘swim down’ 200m Freestyle with 2:06.28.
