Yesterday at the World Cup in Stockholm, Loughborough swimmers were again to the fore among the British swimmers competing at the meet. Fran Halsall became the first British women to dip under the magical 24 second barrier. In the morning heats she set a new British record time of 24.01 to progress through to the final in second place. In the final she eventually finished fifth in another British record time of 23.97.
Later on in the finals programme Lizzie Simmonds(pictured), produced a new European and British record in the women's 200 back. She swam a near perfect race to knock over half a second off her previous British record, finishing in a time of 2:02.01.
Joe Roebuck also dominated the field in the men's 400Im, leading from the start he was never headed, eventually finishing first in a time of 4:03.29.
