Loughborough swimmers put in some fine performances at the Snow Frills Meet in Sheffield. Kate Hutchinson(pictured) was "on fire" during the two day meet, winning four events in lifetime best performances and setting a new University record in the 400m IM. Kate opened her account with a fine display of pacing to win the 400m IM in 4:50,42 and take down the longest standing record on the Loughborough books; the previous record was set by Thea Evanson in 2001. She went on to win the 100m breast (1:11.66), the 200m IM (2:16.74) and finished the meet with an impressive 2:31.64 to claim the 200m breaststroke title.
Matthew Breckon (pictured below) paced his way to victory and a lifetime best in the 1500m freestyle (16:04.11) and followed this with a bronze medal in the 400m event. James Lovatt, recovering from a prolonged shoulder niggle, took the 100m & 200m backstroke titles in 57.63 & 2:05.69 respectively while Andy Bushell powered his way to gold with an impressive 50.96 100m freestyle. Kate Weaver, inspired by her sprint training partner,produced the swim of her career to take the 100m freestyle title in 57.24. Simon Churchman swam a well paced race to outswim his teammates in the 200m freestyle; Churchman taking gold in 1:53.29 ahead of Luke Bridgman and Andrew Donaldson who took silver and bronze to complete a Loughborough clean sweep.
