Loughborough swimmers continued to rack up the lifetime bests with outstanding swimming during the first finals session at the European Short Course Championships in Istanbul.

Rachel Lefley, racing in her first major senior event, swam impressively to lower her heat time and post another lifetime best of 59.33 in the semi final of the women's 100m backstroke to take 18th place.

Joe Roebuck reconfirmed his emergence as a formidable medley talent when taking 6th spot in the final of the men's 200m individual medley in a lifetime best of 1:54.17.

Amy Smith set her second lifetime best of the competition when sprinting to 54.11 in the semi final of the 100m freestyle event to finish in 17th place.

With three more days of racing to go the Loughborough swimmers are in full flow...
