In this mornings heats at the European SC in Istanbul, Laurent Carnol (Luxembourg) continued his fine form from earlier in the competition by posting a time of 2:08.42 in the men's 200m breast to set a new Luxembourg National record.

Ireland's Melanie Nocher competing in the women's 200m back narrowly missed her Irish record finishing in 7th place and progressing through to this evenings final in a time of 2:05.78. Team mate Rachel Lefley finished in a time of 2:08.95.

Amy Smith completed the morning for Loughborough swimmers by progressing through to the semi final of the women's 50m free in a time of 25.01.
