loughborough swimmers, Sophie Casson, James Gibson and Kim Bell ruled the waves as they took to the open waters of Ullswater and Market Bosworth respectively.

Sophie, competing in the final of the EPIC swim series, proved she was the Queen of the Lakes by adding the Ullswater title to previous victories in Coniston and Derwentwater. A delighted Sophie said " The conditions were wet and wild and at 13C this was the coldest one yet but once again I managed to dig deep and dominate the field"

James Gibson and Kim Bell, competing in the East Midlands 5km race at Market Bosworth, swam well paced races to take the men's and women's district titles. James covered the distance  in 53;40,82 and commenting on his winning swim said, " I really enjoyed the race and was able to control the pace throughout. I'm looking forward to my next Open Water swim" Kim, relative newcomer to the open water scene, was also happy with her swim and is already planning her next challenge
