Loughborough's World Record Holder and World Champion, Liam Tancock, put in a storming swim from Lane 8 in the final of the 100m backstroke at the European Championships to take bronze.

Tancock, given a "get out of jail card" into the final after the withdrawal of Marcus Rogan, seized his chance by putting in a storming first 50m to turn in second spot (25.80) and maintained his speed as he powered over the closing stages to clinch 3rd place in 53.86
