Francesca Halsall put in a storming performance in the final of the 100m butterfly to takes silver in a new British Record of 57.40.Riding the wave of former Loughborough swimmer, Therese Alshammar, Fran was out fast over the first 50m of the race. Closing down and then passing Therese over the final 25m Fran had the gold medal in her sights...a superb final 5m seeing her take silver; a mere 8 one hudredths from gold! An excited Fran said "I wanted the Gold, I wanted it very much, but I havent got long enough arms! I've got to be happy though, it was a personal best, a British Record and a really good swim. Losing by 0.08! I feel that will be great motivation for next year's training." WOW!..what a swim Fran! Great Job! |
