Loughborough's Laurent Carnol has received a prestigious award from the Josy Barthel Foundation* in Luxembourg. Since arriving in Loughborough in September 2009 Laurent has enjoyed a remarkable year, having collected two academic prizes for Chemistry, setting numerous Luxembourg National Records, winning the EDF Paris Open and placing 5th in the final of the 200m breaststroke at the European Championships in Budapest. WOW! What a year.... AND...there's more to come...Watch this space!!! * Josy Barthel is Luxemourg's only Olympic Gold Medallist; winning the 1500m at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki. Interstingly enough he was also an acedemic who specialised in Chemistry. |
