Selection to British TeamsAs the British Gas National Championships approach we need to update you on the process that will be implemented at this event to confirm British team selection for the European LC Championships, European Junior Championships and the Open Water Trials in Israel (the 2nd stage selection trials for the Open Water World Championships, Open Water Senior European Championships and Open Water Junior Championships). Previously all swimmers and coaches were required to complete an Availability Form to confirm their availability prior to being considered for selection to a British team. However, the process has changed, and instead, coaches and athletes meeting the team selection qualification criteria at the Trials will be approached by a representative of British Swimming (normally the team manager for the team in question) with a Selection pack. The pack will contain a number of documents including Selection Acceptance forms and a copy of the team selection policy. Each selected team member will be required to complete and sign the forms contained in the pack to confirm they have read and understood the conditions of selection, and may also be asked to provide additional information, for example preferred departure airports etc. To ensure that athletes and coaches secure their place on the team, the forms must be completed and returned to the designated British Swimming staff member at the Trials. Following the conclusion of the Open Water Trials in Israel, athletes qualifying for the Open Water World Championships, Open Water European Senior Championships and Open Water Junior Championships will receive the relevant Selection Acceptance pack in the post from the British Swimming office. Completed forms must be returned to the British Swimming office for selections to be confirmed. |
